The Commercial department is the hub of new opportunities where relationships with suppliers are forged and nurtured. Our astute commercial minds are the first port of call for travel suppliers seeking to distribute to our broad-spanning market, whilst also managing the relationships from initial project scoping through to day-to-day performance reporting.

The department operates between the hours of 08:00 and 19:00, Monday to Friday. The breakdown of your normal hours of work will be by agreement with your manager.

The role:

The Commercial Operations Executive will be a part of a dynamic and fluid Commercial team, with a focus on maximising the team’s efficiency, ensuring we have the best product for sale and offering expert fares support across three main GDS. Along with assisting GDS bookers with related queries, training, airline knowledge and fare distribution, the Commercial Operations Executive will be required to carry out a wide range of duties.

Tasks & responsibilities include:

  • Making fares available via GDS, to set Service Levels, appropriate airline fares
  • Providing support, guidance and training to Commercial team members.
  • Providing support to internal departments and external GDS agents regarding airline rules/policies, fare and pricing issues and responding quickly to fare queries
  • Communicating new fares, changes, updates to relevant internal and external customers
  • Distributing and pricing fares across three main GDS, particularly becoming proficient in all three GDS fare distribution tools
  • Identifying outstanding fares that will be commercially beneficial for the business to promote
  • Fostering good relationships with airline contacts and GDS bookers
  • Ensuring better coordination between Fares – Flights Team– Sales
  • Monitoring GDS Help Desk e-mail inbox
  • Sense-checking incoming fares & contracts
  • Corresponding with GDS agents fares support over queries/errors
  • Collating all data needed to set up new GDS agents
  • Having a comprehensive understanding of each airlines nett fare structure and rules
  • Answering airline fare and product queries from internal or external customers
  • Have a good understanding of each airlines’ products and routes
  • Being fully conversant with the companies’ booking systems
  • Carrying out checks and testing of fares
  • Liaising effectively with Customer Support teams and Sales teams
  • Producing accurate reports from our reporting system and/or update excel data supplied by airlines
  • Creating airline/fare user guides
  • Testing systems for new functionality releases

The successful candidate will:

  • Have at least three years GDS experience
  • Have high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Be able to work on own initiative
  • Have the ability to communicate positively and effectively
  • Understand airlines fares, in particular net fares and cat25/35 pricing
  • Understand the flight sales market/tour operator market
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Have a good knowledge of MS Office – particularly Excel
  • Be a committed, enthusiastic and supportive team member
  • Maintain systems to ensure quality control
  • Strive to continuously improve the quality (presentation, accuracy, and coverage) of information relevant to the business
  • Keep accurate records, data information and filing systems
  • Be aware of company’s goals and aims and strive to achieve at every opportunity
  • Deliver an efficient and professional service to internal and external customers
  • Attend and contribute in a positive and objective manner at team meetings or any relevant departmental/company meetings
