Ensuring we stay on the straight and narrow are our finance heroes! Not only do they produce all of our management accounts, financial reports, and key financial information but they’re a core touchpoint in liaising between the many suppliers, tour operator & agent partners, and contractors that we work with. Nothing gets past our financiers!

The role:

As one of three Financial Controllers within the business, this role will take responsibility for the Corporate Governance, Internal Audit and the implementation of key financial projects within the Travel Innovation Group.

Corporate Governance

The purpose of this role is to ensure the effective Corporate Governance of the Travel Innovation Group working closely with the internal Executive Team and the key external stakeholders such as the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA).

Tasks & responsibilities include:

  • Developing, maintaining and updating the governance framework.
  • Ensure full compliance with relevant legislation and regulation pertaining to the Travel Innovation Group
  • Reviewing current business processes to ensure their effectiveness for compliance
  • Making recommendations for improvement to existing business practices
  • Working closely with the Senior Management Team to share reports, findings and recommendations
  • Oversee the implementation of agreed actions to improve business processes

Internal Audit

Develop a detailed understanding of the business processes across the Travel Innovation Group to enable the implementation of a full internal audit process across the business.

Tasks & responsibilities include:

  • Performing risk assessments on key business activities and using this information to guide what should be covered in the audit
  • Anticipating emerging issues through research and interviews and deciding how to best deal with them
  • Agreeing recommendations with relevant staff members to make improvements to operations
  • Preparing reports to highlight issues and problems for discussion with the Senior Management Team
  • Assessing how well the business is complying to rules and regulations and informing senior management of issues that need addressing

Project Implementation

Responsible for the project management of the transition of SAGE 200 to SAGE X3:

  • Leading the planning and implementation of the project
  • Defining the project scope and goals
  • Planning and scheduling project timelines with resource planning and allocation
  • Reporting progress on a regular basis to senior management
  • Continual evaluation of project delivery to ensure time tracking and delivery

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a recognised accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA etc)
  • Have five – ten years’ experience in financial management
  • Have experience of computerised accounting software and an aptitude for system improvements and developments
  • Form strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Work well under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Think objectively
  • Be motivated to develop knowledge and skills and improve processes
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
