“Having previously worked for the NHS, I was worried that opportunities would be few and far between in a smaller organisation – actually, it’s been quite the opposite! During my time here, the Travel Innovation Group has grown and developed so much, providing me with plenty of new opportunities and challenges.
The support from my peers, CIPD courses and degree apprenticeships that I’ve been enrolled onto and constant encouragement to drive my own career growth has been invaluable. I’ve also been fortunate enough to travel to America, South Africa and Pakistan with my role and as we continue to grow internationally, who knows where I'll go next!”

“Travel is my passion yet after working in the industry since 1998, I became slightly disillusioned and started my own retail business. However, I still had the urge to rejoin the travel trade and the Travel Innovation Group opened the gate for me with the perfect opportunity.
For the past six years, I’ve worked within the North America Groups team with a shift pattern that allows me to concentrate on my business in the morning by starting later in the day. During my time here, I’ve been promoted to Senior Groups Specialist and consider it a true blessing to work with a team that treats you like family.”

“I’ve held various roles in different areas throughout my ten years with the business – each varied and challenging in its own way. I started at Lime before moving across to different project roles within Calrom. In 2014, I headed to Sydney for three months with a lead role in the implementation of Calrom’s Groups Next Gen system for Qantas and never returned; with the Group’s support, I’ve built a new life in Australia.
Today my role is truly global. No two days are the same and I enjoy my work immensely, from meeting with airline partners globally to growing professionally and personally with the encouragement of my colleagues. I’m look forward to the next ten years as the business continues to grow!”

“Through life, your circumstances change and little did I know having my first child would be so demanding (and exhausting). The Travel Innovation Group has created an environment where you can balance a successful career with commitments outside of work, I was able to reduce my working hours and have flexibility when it was much needed. When the time was right, I returned to full time hours.
The Travel Innovation Group is a place where you feel at home, respected and appreciated – a dream most of us have when we start a new job. I’ve enjoyed every part of my journey here; from my first days working in Groups and Flights to where I am today, managing our Partnerships team.”

“Having worked in the travel industry for 28 years, I’ve gained an abundance of skills and knowledge in everything from sales, reservations and customer service to project management and system implementation – all while travelling to many amazing destinations!
I feel extremely lucky to have used my experience in different teams across the Travel Innovation Group, something I can confidently say I haven’t experienced previously. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about the travel industry, it’s how quickly things can change and with the challenges that COVID-19 brought, the Travel Innovation Group has continued to innovate by creating new and varied roles – the clue really is in the name!”

“Travel is my biggest passion: I've worked in the industry for nearly 20 years, including 12 years working the evening shift as part of the North America Groups team, progressing to Operations Team Leader during my time here.
Although my circumstances have changed in that time, the evening hours have always worked for me - especially during the summer when I can spend time outside and have a BBQ lunch before work! - and I've been lucky enough to be involved in projects that have taken me to Australia, Panama, South Africa and the USA.”
Samantha HanmerOperations Team Leader
“I began my journey with the Travel Innovation Group in 2017 via the apprenticeship scheme. I was 18 years old and it was my first ‘real’ job so it’s great to be able to look back on what I’ve been able to achieve, thanks to the opportunities offered to me and amazing people I’ve worked with.
Working on the Systems Team provides a new and rewarding challenge every day, and in my time with the business I’ve been fortunate enough to graduate from the apprenticeship scheme and have since progressed to become a senior member of the team with the encouragement of my brilliant colleagues. I look forward to facing more challenges as my career develops in the future.”
