About us and the department this role sits in:

As a fast-growing SaaS company, Calrom has a proven record of delivering innovative software for international airlines. We’re also part of the Travel Innovation Group, made up of Lime, Calrom & Aviate who all provide unique services to the travel trade.

Calrom is a fast-growing SaaS tech company specialising in group booking solutions, fare distribution, air shopping and ticketing systems for airlines. Our systems are used by some of the world’s largest and most respected airlines, which is a testament to our passion for creating quality and innovative software solutions.

The role:

As a Software Solutions Architect, we would expect you to contribute to our continual process of improving our systems, processes, and technology stack — including the strategic adoption of AI-augmented software development practices. Overall we look for people who have an inquisitive mind, are always learning, and to whom development is a passion, who are not scared to look under the covers of a framework to figure out how things work, and ultimately why it may not be working as expected. You will work with a group of highly passionate technology people who want to develop the best systems in their chosen business area, increasingly leveraging AI-assisted tooling and agentic workflows to accelerate delivery and raise architectural quality. As a business we love to see our people grow and develop with room for both career and skills development across the organization. In this role you will be reporting to the Head of Engineering.

We think you’ll be a great fit if you have:

  • Minimum of five years working experience as a Technical Architect
  • Hands on experience in architectural frameworks and processes, microservices and event-based architecture
  • Experience migrating legacy applications into microservice oriented architecture by adopting increment approach.
  • Practical experience working with Infrastructure as code, cloud, monitoring and container technologies (e.g. Azure, Kubernetes, dockers, Grafana, Prometheus, Helm charts…)
  • Working experience with agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Scaled Agile Framework, LeSS)
  • Must have experience analyzing code for weaknesses and errors (including AI-generated code), and overseeing plans to improve them
  • Must be familiar with the application security, cybersecurity.. etc.
  • Must be familiar with the latest programming languages, frameworks, technologies, and AI-augmented development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, LLM-based code generation) and how to best utilize them in architectural decisions
  • Deep understanding of DevOps practices, including AI-augmented CI/CD pipelines, automated quality gates, and intelligent monitoring
  • Must have understanding of software quality assurance principles, including quality gates for AI-assisted code contributions
  • Must be able to conceptualize, design, develop, and implement software solutions that are efficient, secure, maintainable and easily extendable, leveraging AI-assisted design and code generation where appropriate
  • Production of high-quality architectural artefacts – both visual and written
  • Analytical and systematic approach to problem solving
  • Strong understanding of AI-augmented software development, including the effective use of AI coding assistants (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude Code), AI-powered code review workflows, and the integration of LLM-based agents into the software development lifecycle
  • Ability to architect solutions that incorporate AI capabilities end-to-end — from AI-assisted requirements refinement and code generation, through automated PR review and test generation, to AI-driven incident analysis and postmortem summarisation — while enforcing human oversight and quality gates at each stage
  • Define architectural standards and governance frameworks for AI-assisted code contributions, including prompt engineering guidelines, custom instruction management, and responsible AI practices across the platform
  • Evaluate, recommend, and govern AI development tools and agentic coding platforms for adoption across engineering squads, establishing usage policies, access controls, and quality benchmarks

Desired skills:

  • Experience working on large-scale highly complex enterprise solutions
  • Experience of designing, programming, testing and deploying of enterprise solutions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of web applications, cybersecurity and open source technologies
  • Outstanding collaboration and communication skill are essential
  • Experience overseeing customized development of processes for multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience designing secure software systems based upon industry-specific specifications
  • Ability to learn new languages and systems
  • Experience with AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar LLM-powered developer tools in a professional architectural context
  • Understanding of prompt engineering principles, custom instruction authoring, and context management for AI-assisted development workflows across a monorepo or multi-solution architecture
  • Familiarity with agentic AI workflows and multi-agent orchestration platforms (e.g. GitHub Copilot Agents, Claude Code Actions, OpenAI Codex) for automating SDLC stages at an architectural level
  • Awareness of responsible AI practices, including hallucination mitigation, human-in-the-loop review gates, and governance of AI-generated code in production systems
