About us and the department the role sits in:

As a fast-growing SaaS company, Calrom has a proven record of delivering innovative software for international airlines. We’re part of the Travel Innovation Group, made up of Lime, Calrom & Aviate who all provide unique services to the travel trade.

A highly passionate bunch, our data, analytics and AI team bring our unique software solutions to life. Our mission is to empower our customers and internal stakeholders to improve business performance and minimise risk by providing them with clean, reliable data and analytical models.

We are with them to help protect their information, make informed decisions, deliver a personalised service and automate their workloads. Day to day, our engineers might be building data pipelines, modelling data, developing predictive models or automations for repeatable tasks or creating data products.

Your role in the team is to manage the delivery of this work, making sure that the work is completed, tested, demonstrated and released in a timely manner.  You will help prioritise the right tasks, resolve any ‘blockers’ to progress and manage dependencies with other teams.  You will need to understand what a good result looks like and ask appropriate questions to the team or internal customers when clarification is needed.

We use an agile Kanban approach and use Azure DevOps as our tool to manage the work.

Tasks & responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with those teams, including across our geographic locations.
  • Very structured approach to work but with an appropriate level of flexibility when required: in other words, you typically go strictly by the rules but also know that occasionally it’s best to bend them.
  • Clear, tidy and methodical – we proudly maintain a very clean work flow with accurate labelling and hierarchy which you will be expected to continue.
  • Ability to understand, in outline, possible technical solutions to business problems.
  • Ability to identify when a business need is unclear or ambiguous and ask the right questions.
  • Relentless approach to continuous improvement of both processes and individuals.
  • Analytical, with an interest in developing metrics to help celebrate our success and further improve our efficiency.
  • Sensitively able to communicate and apply our policies when accepting work, tackling blockers or following-up test results.

As you can see this job encompasses some elements of roles such as Business Analyst, Product Owner or Scrum Master.  You may already have some experience close to those roles or you may aim to progress into one of those roles at a more senior level.

We are looking for the right person who is a team player who can communicate effectively and is comfortable working within a diversified, multi-cultural and multi-functional team, both locally and remote, understanding the perspectives of each partner. Above all, someone with the passion to drive and succeed in their own career.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of using Azure DevOps, but we can help you learn this from experience with any similar tool such as Trello, Jira, Notion, Monday or many others.
  • Experience with the Microsoft data stack would help you understand our work better, but isn’t essential e.g. MS SQL Server, Power BI, Azure Data Factory.
  • Any experience of good SDLC practices: source control (git), CI/CD, test and release processes.
  • Any experience in teams using any of the following would also be a bonus in our environment: Dynamics CRM, Rabbit MQ, Hubspot, C# .NET development or legacy Microsoft data technologies (SSIS, SSRS).

Experience in any of the above would help you to become productive in the job more quickly. We are genuinely committed to your success so, if you don’t quite meet all of our requirements yet, we encourage you to apply anyway and start a conversation.

What you’ll get:

  • Flexible and home working policies.
  • 33 days annual leave, including bank holidays.
  • 5% matched company pension contribution.
  • Modern offices with great spaces to kick back and relax – there’s even an on-site gym and bar in our Cheshire Oaks office!
  • Internal training academy to support your learning and personal development.
  • Additional company benefits to support your wellbeing and happiness!
